One of the things I love about running is the community the surrounds it. And living in one the greatest cities in the world, I get t meet and hang out with some really interesting people. One of those people is running coach Sabrina, from runningbrina.com.

Check out my Q&A with her to find out why:

Do you remember your very first run?

I started running to lose weight before I got married. Now running is a very important part of my life. My very first run was along the Hudson River next to the NYC Skyline after I moved to the US from Germany. Couldn’t have chosen a better place for my first run, right?

What is your biggest accomplishment when it comes to running?

Qualifying for the New York Marathon 2017.

What would you consider as the hardest challenge so far in running?

It was hard for me to understand how important rest is as a runner. In the beginning I got injured several times, because I wouldn’t find proper rest. I was just running all over NYC without taking a break to recover. So that was challenging for me. And any kind of training for my races is a challenge. Handling a full time job, decent training and my own blog takes some kind of creative scheduling.

What made you become a coach.

I just love what I do and I started sharing it with my followers on Instagram. People started asking for advice and training tips so I started doing my coaching license. That’s how I am, I always want to do things right, there is no half way for me. After I was finished I reached out to the people and offered professional help and they loved it. I coach as a personal coach but also online. I love it.

Best race moment ever?

This year at the NYC Half on Times Square. I wasn’t running, I was flying and feeling the vibes this race has to offer. I loved it. New York City has a very special meaning to me since I moved here 3 years ago and my life just changed completely after this giant step moving thousand of miles away from my family and friends. So running on Times Square even if I avoid it normally just felt like: “Yes New York City. I’m here. I made it. Thank you!”

“Running means to me…”

Health, love and energy.

What / or who inspires you?

I get inspired by so many people. Right now I’m having a great balance between weight lifting and running which is why I admire an amazing women named KarinaElle from LA. She is a sprinter and into bodybuilding. I just love her positivity and how she has found the perfect balance between bodybuilding and running which is not easy in my eyes.

How did you became faster as a runner?

Patience. Dedication. Training. Never force things. Your body will follow when it’s ready.

What’s your next race and how to you prepare for it?

My next race is the Queens10k. Not my favorite race to be honest because of the weather. Right now I focus on sprints and intervals. Actually my most favorite workouts when it comes to running.

If you could run wherever you want, where would it be?

Hawaii. On the beach. During sunrise.

Fun facts about me

I can’t walk / or run on sidewalk grates.
