I’m Running the Skechers Performance LA Marathon!

in Running Life

It’s official, my entry is secured, airfare purchased, hotel booked and corral assigned.

On February 14, 2016 I will line up with about 29,999 other runners and make my way from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica in a 26.2 mile tour of a town I’ve spent enough time in to know I don’t want to live there.

I feel that this is a bit of a race of redemption for me. Since I PR’d Philly two years ago, I haven’t had a good marathon, let alone something close to a PR. I’ve run three since then (two NYs and one Jersey, and all have been progressively worse).

And why? Because I haven’t committed to the training.

I’m three weeks into the training schedule below. If I put it here I’ll HAVE to stick to it, the last thing I want to do is make some public statement and then go back on my word.

Right?

So I’m here to tell you that I’m sticking to this training schedule regardless of rain, snow, cold temps, sleet and even my wife threatening divorce (let’s hope it doesn’t come to that).

And LA is a net downhill. So, given the right race conditions and training, things could get interesting out there (but then again, Boston is a net downhill as well).

I’m still researching the course specifics and the inside track on the race and I’ll share that with you as I learn more so you can come on this journey with me.

So wish me luck and the wind at my back (I’m gonna need it)!
